Shooting leaves two dead at North Highlands shopping center
A shooting at a retail business complex in North Highlands left two men dead Saturday night, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at the 5200 block of Elkhorn Boulevard at around 9:20 p.m. Saturday, department spokesman Sgt. Shaun Hampton said in a release from the department on Sunday. In a video posted by the department, a crime scene can be seen set up in front of India Market, a business in the shopping center.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found people performing CPR on two male victims with gunshot wounds, Hampton said.
One of the victims was transported to an area hospital, Hampton said, where he later died. The other victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Witnesses told deputies they heard an argument before shots were fired, Hampton said.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and “are attempting to piece together the details of what occurred,” Hampton said. The department does not have a suspect description or a motive for the shooting.
Deputies are asking anyone with information about this shooting to call the department at 916-874-5115.
