Suspected DUI driver runs over three Bay Area deputies visiting Roseville for training, police say
Roseville police say a man has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after running a red light Monday afternoon, hitting two occupied vehicles and striking three pedestrians who were on-duty sheriff’s deputies visiting from the Bay Area for training.
The collision happened at the intersection of East Roseville Parkway and Taylor Road about 1 p.m. Monday, according to an emailed statement from Roseville Police Department spokesman Rob Baquera.
Two of the deputies were with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department and one was with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department. Each was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Baquera said.
Occupants of the other involved vehicles suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Police arrested Clyde Gray, a 68-year-old Rocklin man, on suspicion of several charges including driving under the influence, Baquera said.
Gray is being held at the South Placer jail with no bail possible. Gray had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for DUIs.
The deputies were in town for law enforcement training, Baquera said.
