Car crashes through front doors of post office near downtown Sacramento

The post office near Alhambra Boulevard and Q Street closed early Tuesday afternoon after a car crashed into the glass front doors, injuring three.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., a gray Honda Civic rammed into the building, striking two pedestrians and injuring the driver, responding officer James Walker of the Sacramento Police Department said.

Police spokeswoman Officer Linda Matthew said investigators believe the driver may have had a medical emergency, leading to the crash.

All three were transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, Walker said.

The Sacramento Fire Department said on Twitter that the building was being assessed for structural damage.

Fire Captain Keith Wade said a contractor was called to the scene to board up the damaged area.
