Police investigating after gunfire rounds hit school south of Tahoe Park
Police are investigating bullet holes found at an elementary school Wednesday in the Colonial Manor neighborhood of south Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Police responded to reports of shots fired near New Joseph Bonnheim Community Charter School on the 7300 block of Marin Avenue just after 1:30 p.m., according to Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Vance Chandler.
One building was found with two bullet holes during a police canvass of the school. One staff member was inside the building and was not injured, Chandler said.
Police and the Sacramento City Unified School District said no students on campus were affected and that the school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution.
There was no indication that the school was targeted, Chandler said. Police will have an increased presence at the school Thursday as a precautionary measure.
