A woman’s body was found in a wooded area of Placerville on Friday morning, and her death is being investigated as suspicious, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities received a call at about 8:30 a.m. Friday regarding a body found in the woods near the intersection of Highway 193 and Highway 49 in Placerville, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was identified as 37-year-old Monique Reyes of Georgetown, according to the release.
The initial investigation into the incident revealed no signs of foul play, but is being investigated as a suspicious death because of the location where the body was found, officials said.
Reyes’ cause of death has yet to be determined and is pending the results of an autopsy.
