Neighbor stabbed as Elk Grove home invasion turns violent. Three arrested, police say
Three suspects were arrested Tuesday after a fight reportedly broke out between a trio of burglars and a neighbor with a golf club, Elk Grove police said.
Officers responded to calls of a residential burglary in the 7200 block of Campania Court just after 3 p.m., and the caller reported that three suspects had broken into his neighbor’s house, according to a news release by the Elk Grove Police Department.
The caller told the dispatcher that he had confronted the suspects inside the victim’s home, arming himself with a golf club, police said. During an ensuing fight, the neighbor struck one of the suspects with the club, and then one of the suspects put the neighbor in a chokehold, according to the news release.
It was later discovered that the neighbor was also stabbed twice in the upper body during the altercation. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspects fled on foot, and officers approached them near Bellaterra drive and Tarzo Way.
Two of the suspects ran away from officers but were quickly located, and all three were detained, according to the news release.
The two fleeing suspects were identified by Elk Grove police as Ivory Spratt, 21, and Zamir Alshabazz, 19. The third suspect was Kymon Anderson, 20.
Police found that Alshabazz was in possession of property stolen from the residence at Campania Court. Alshabazz also had suffered injuries from the altercation with the neighbor, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to the news release.
After an “extensive search” of the area from which the suspects fled from the officers, police found a pellet gun resembling a real firearm. The neighbor had told the dispatcher earlier that one of the suspects was armed with a gun, the news release said.
All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, home invasion, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. The three men were still in the process of being booked into Sacramento County jail Wednesday morning. The two who ran from police also face charges of resisting arrest.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call the Elk Grove Police Department at 916-714-5115.
