A man was arrested on Saturday after Sacramento Police said he exposed himself and then tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl outside of a Meadowview elementary school one day earlier.

Officers arrested 20-year-old Joseph Dumarce near Teekay Way and 24th Street on Saturday, according to a news release from the Sacramento Police Department.

The girl was walking to John Still Elementary School on John Still Drive Friday morning when Dumarce started asking her for directions, the release said. The girl told police she realized he was masturbating in the vehicle when he pulled up next to her and she then attempted to walk away, according to the release.

Police say Dumarce drove in front of the girl, exited and attempted to pull her into his vehicle. The girl escaped and ran to the elementary school.

Officers did a sweep of the area after the incident Friday and did not find anyone matching a description of the suspect or the four-door silver sedan he was driving when he allegedly approached the girl.
