South Sacramento homicide investigated as male is found dead by family member, sheriff says

Homicide detectives are investigating after a male victim was found dead inside his south Sacramento home Sunday afternoon, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies responded to a call just after 2 p.m. from a 911 caller who said he arrived at a family member’s home in the 7000 block of Peevey Court, near Maynard Way, to find that family member dead inside the house, according to a news release by the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies determined the deceased male had been the victim of a “violent assault,” the news release said.

No motive or suspect information have been released by authorities as of Monday.

The victim’s identity will be released by the coroner’s office pending notification of family.
