Sacramento man quickly arrested after Citrus Heights bank robbery, police say

A Sacramento man was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of robbing a Citrus Heights bank, police said.

Giovanni Johnson, 30, was on parole for a prior bank robbery when he was arrested, according to a news release by the Citrus Heights Police Department.

Police responded about 3:45 p.m. to reports by a bank employee that a robbery had just occurred at the Bank of the West at 7381 Greenback Lane, the news release said.

That employee reported that a man passed a note to a bank teller and the note mentioned a gun, but no weapon was used or brandished during the robbery, police said.

The suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, but was quickly located nearby and arrested by Citrus Heights police.

Johnson has been booked into Sacramento County jail for first-degree robbery and parole violation, and is ineligible for bail due to the latter.

Anyone with further information regarding the robbery is asked to contact the Citrus Heights Police Department at 916-727-5500.
