The man killed Saturday evening in a collision in south Sacramento has been identified as Wilber Sermeno, 44, of Elk Grove, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Sacramento Police Department officers determined 35-year-old Allen Vang was impaired during the collision and took him into custody Saturday. He was released Sunday and is awaiting trial, according to jail records.

Officers responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Idaho Drive at 8:54 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Sacramento Police Department. They found a mangled Cadillac CTS with three passengers and a Toyota FJ cruiser with one passenger.

Sermeno, who was driving the Cadillac, was pronounced dead on the scene and the two other passengers were taken to a hospital to recover from “minor injuries,” the release said.
