Bicyclist killed in Tuesday night crash in south Sacramento, police say

A male bicyclist died after a traffic collision Tuesday night in south Sacramento, police said.

Officers responded to the crash about 8:40 p.m. on Elder Creek Road between Stockton Boulevard and 63rd Street, where the bicyclist had suffered major injuries after colliding with a car, according to Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Vance Chandler.

Fire personnel transported the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, Chandler said. The driver of the car suffered minor injuries, he said.

“At this time, detectives do not believe impaired driving played a factor,” said Chandler, who added the crash remains under investigation.
