A car crashed into a North Laguna home Thursday afternoon, injuring the driver and a passenger.

Just before 1 p.m., a four-door sedan ran into the home near the corner of Valley Hi Drive and Valley Green Drive, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Fire Captain Keith Wade said one of the occupants was seriously injured while the other was in stable condition.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Vance Chandler said their injuries were not life-threatening and they were transported to nearby hospitals.

The car was driving on eastbound Valley Hi Drive when it crashed into the house and hit a gas main, Chandler said.

The home was severely damaged and utilities such as gas and electricity were shut off to prevent further damage, Wade said, adding that city Housing and Dangerous Building officials will be shoring up the damaged side of the house with makeshift construction.

Nobody was in the home at the time of the incident, Wade said.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, Chandler said.
