Firefighters extricated a cat from a palm tree after the feline just would not come down on its own.
The black and white cat was meowing like crazy for days in the 30-to-40 feet tall overgrown palm in a yard in the 5900 block of Jansen Drive before Sacramento Fire Department firefighters moved in to pluck her from her lofty perch.
Firefighters were concerned that citizens were going to attempt a rescue of the cat and injure themselves so they took control around 9 p.m. Tuesday and got the cat down, employing two ladder trucks.

Firefighters were ready to abandon the rescue if a fire broke out at a different location, fire officials said.
