Police investigating suspected homicide after finding bloody man lying in Roseville street

Roseville police are investigating a suspected homicide in the 100 block of Vernon Street on Sunday morning.

Police received reports of a person lying in Vernon Street at 8:17 a.m. Sunday, Roseville police spokesman Rob Baquera said. Upon arrival, officers found a man “covered in blood,” Baquera said in a news release.

During the investigation, officers found a dead woman at a house on the 100 block of Birch Street. The man, who was conscious when officers found him, is believed to be associated with the woman and lives in the house, Baquera said.

Officers arrested the man Sunday morning, Baquera said. The department does not believe others were involved.

“We believe the single person who we have arrested is the single suspect,” Baquera said.

Baquera said he could not confirm whose blood was on the man’s clothing, though he said the man was not treated for injuries following his arrest.

Portions of Vernon and Birch streets will be closed indefinitely as the department investigates, Baquera said.
