Three killed, one seriously hurt in Friday night crash on I-80 in Davis, CHP says
Three people were killed and one was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday night, when a car struck a tree off Interstate 80 in Davis, California Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported abut 10:53 p.m. Friday near Olive Drive on westbound I-80, according to a news release by the CHP’s Woodland office.
Officers arrived to find a male driver and two female passengers who had suffered fatal injuries when the 2006 Chrysler they were traveling in struck a tree near the right shoulder, according to the news release.
A third passenger, identified as an 18-year-old Sacramento man, was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.
The identity of the three deceased victims will be made available by the Solano County coroner’s office pending notification of family.
An investigation determined that the Chrysler swerved from the far left lane across all three lanes of traffic, and that the left side of the car hit the tree.
The driver and one of the passengers who died were wearing seat belts, the CHP’s collision report indicates; the other two occupants, including the survivor, were not wearing safety equipment.
The man who survived was ejected from the vehicle, the CHP said.
