A man was arrested at the scene of a large fire that burned five apartments Tuesday morning in the Valley Hi neighborhood.
Officers arrested Longinos Togonon, 26, on suspicion of arson and assault with a deadly weapon.
Sacramento Fire Department crews responded to the large apartment complex about 3:30 a.m. at 6525 Valley Hi Drive, where several units were ablaze. Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack from the ground and atop the buildings to prevent the fire from spreading.
Five units received burn damage and two others had smoke damage. Not all of the units were occupied.

A fire department spokesman said no one was injured. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Fire officials said they were seeking a person of interest in relation to the fire. At about 8 a.m., Togonon was taken into custody by police as a suspect in the fire at the apartment complex and for an alleged assault with a gardening implement on a family member about a mile from the fire scene.
