Auburn teen arrested for making ‘credible’ threats of violence on social media, police say

A 17-year-old boy was arrested this week after allegedly making “credible” threats of violence against other teens, the Auburn Police Department said.

On Nov. 25, police received a report of a juvenile who “threatened to cause great bodily injury to multiple teenagers” who were planning to meet at the Park Preserve, the department said in a news release.

The boy used a social media platform to make the threats, and during an investigation, officer determined the threats were “credible,” according to the release issued Wednesday.

The boy was then arrested and booked into the Placer County Juvenile Hall.

“The Auburn Police Department would like to remind parents to monitor their children’s social media platforms, while teaching them that threats within our community are taken seriously,” the department said.
