The Woodland Police Department on Monday announced the arrests of two suspects in connection with a Sept. 21, 2019, shootout in the 800 block of Pacific Street that injured a bystander.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a September shootout that injured a bystander in Woodland, police said Monday.

Investigators identified and arrested Francisco Zapien, 34, of Woodland, and Antonio Godinez, 23, of Knights Landing, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for their alleged roles in a Sept. 21 shooting in the 800 block of Pacific Street, the Woodland Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Officers who arrived at the scene located evidence that a shooting had occurred, then learned that a victim had self-admitted to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the post.

Witness statements and surveillance video showed that two people were involved in a “shoot-out on Pacific Street,” the Woodland Police Department said. The post called the victim an “unwilling participant in the altercation.”

Police arrested Zapien during a traffic stop, the department said. Godinez was arrested while in custody at the Solano County jail, transferred there from the Sacramento County jail on Sept. 25 for an unrelated robbery, jail records show.

The investigation has been sent to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, the Woodland Police Department said.
