Women arrested for allegedly stealing $5K of makeup, sparking car chase in Placer County

Two women are in custody after allegedly stealing nearly $5,000 of high-end makeup from an Auburn Ulta Beauty store on Black Friday and then leading authorities on a high-speed chase, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Ericka Chacon and Yolanda Cervantez were arrested on suspicion of theft after Ulta witnesses reported the two women to law enforcement.

In a video posted by the sheriff’s office, one woman can be seen putting bottles of perfume in her handbag and the second woman crouches in an aisle while stuffing her purse with items.

Deputies found the women driving a silver sedan and a high-speed chase ensued on Interstate 80. The chase came to an end when their car collided with a guard rail, the sheriff’s office said.

The women were transported to a hospital, where they were treated for injuries, the sheriff’s office said. They face charges of burglary, conspiracy, grand theft and evading a peace officer, the sheriff’s office said.
