Police recovered large knives and a replica handgun from four suspects arrested in connection with a burglary in Davis on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019.

Four Woodland men were arrested Saturday night for an armed burglary at a travel trailer in Davis, police said.

Officers responded to Glide Drive and El Cermonte Avenue at about 8:20 p.m., where a female victim reported that multiple people were breaking into the trailer in which she resides, the Davis Police Department said in a Facebook post this week.

The victim also reported that at least two of the suspects appeared to be armed, “one with a handgun and another with a machete,” according to the social media post.

The suspects left the scene in a truck, but were quickly located and stopped by police, the department said. During a traffic stop, officers recovered property belonging to the victim and located “a replica firearm and large knives.”

Ryan Andrade, 42; Rolando Ortiz, 40; Antonio Pereida, 58; and Wilson Sefomichel, 32, were each arrested and booked into Yolo County jail for various charges related to burglary and possession of weapons, Davis police said.

The arrests came three days after Davis police arrested four suspects, all juvenile males from Vallejo, for burglary and possession of a loaded handgun and property stolen from multiple parked cars, the department said.

A recent wave of crime in Davis, including burglaries, armed robberies and carjackings reported in recent weeks by the police department, has city leaders considering the installation of new surveillance cameras and license plate readers.

Police Chief Darren Pytel in a presentation to the Davis City Council last week said violent crime is at a five-year low and the city is on track for fewer armed robberies in 2019 than in 2018. But Pytel expressed concern regarding two recent armed carjackings that were the first in recent memory, as well as an uptick in larceny. He also noted that 40 percent of property crimes in Davis so far in 2019 have involved weapons, compared with just 25 percent in 2018.
