Car strikes and kills two pedestrians on South Watt Avenue in Rosemont

Two people are dead after a car struck two pedestrians on South Watt Avenue on Friday night in Rosemont, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The two pedestrians, a man and a woman, got out of their vehicle and were standing in the middle of South Watt Avenue near Jackson Road arguing around 11:29 p.m., according to the release. A Volkswagen traveling southbound on South Watt Avenue struck the two pedestrians.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman died after being taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Volkswagen stopped and cooperated with officers. Speed is not considered a factor, and the area lacks crosswalks.
