Wrong way crash on I-80 in Fairfield leaves nine injured, one critically
A wrong-way driver caused a three-car crash on eastbound Interstate 80 near Highway 12 on Saturday morning in Fairfield, leaving three people with major injuries and one in critical condition, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A white Toyota Corolla was seen driving the wrong way in the No. 3 lane of eastbound I-80 near the Suisun Parkway exit around midnight Saturday morning, according to the release. The Corolla then collided head-on with two other vehicles.
Nine people were injured in the crash, including four children. A 35-year-old man, a 40-year-old man, and a 17-year-old girl suffered major injuries. One of them is in critical condition.
Of the injured, five were from Fairfield, three from Roseville and one from Suisun City.
The driver of the Corolla was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The identities of the driver and the victims are unknown.
