$2,400 in Red Kettle donations stolen from Salvation Army in Woodland, officials say
The Salvation Army Service Center in Woodland was burglarized over the Christmas holiday, during which two days’ worth of Red Kettle donations were stolen, officials with the organization say.
According to a news release, employees returned to the Woodland center, 413 Main St., to find two doors broken down and $2,413 in Red Kettle donations stolen. Salvation Army officials placed the cost of damage at nearly $1,000.
The theft and vandalism is believed to have occurred between late on Christmas Eve and 12:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the release. Samantha Jarosz with the Salvation Army said no one was in the office at the time of the break-in and no one was injured.
According to the release, the organization was already running behind its fundraising goals due to a late Thanksgiving and that the burglary may hinder the nonprofit’s ability to provide services to local community members.
