Pioneer man arrested for alleged threats against neighbor after Amador County standoff

A Pioneer man was arrested Friday after allegedly making threats against a neighbor and barricading himself in his home with a revolver, according to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor called 911 at 10:38 a.m. saying that Kelly Sandefur, 61, threatened to shoot him with a revolver, according to the release. Sandefur then went back into his house on 27309 Silver Drive when six to seven gunshots were heard.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office along with California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene and found Sandefur standing in front of a sliding glass door holding the revolver, refusing to come out. The neighbor was evacuated while other residents were advised to stay indoors.

After refusing to surrender, a SWAT team used a flash-bang grenade and beanbag rounds to shatter a glass door and enter the house. Sandefur was then arrested, deputies said.

Sandefurwas booked into the Amador County jail of suspicion of making terrorist threats, negligent discharge of a firearm and resisting arrest.
