Woodland woman accused of embezzling funds from Yolo County Office of Education

A Woodland woman has been charged with felony embezzlement after allegedly stealing over $23,000 from the Yolo County Office of Education, according to the Yolo County District Attorney.

Prosecutors allege Lori Perez, 32, used an office credit card to make personal purchases plus falsified mileage claims dating back to 2014, according to a news release. The unauthorized charges allegedly totaled over $23,000.

Perez had been employed with the Office of Education since 2005 and served as the director of College and Career Readiness.

The unauthorized purchases were discovered in October 2018, and she is no longer employed by the office, the release said.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 6.
