Three people were arrested Sunday on suspicion of stealing thousands of dollars worth of power tools from the Home Depot in Auburn.

In a news release, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said J.W. Geiger, 21, Teojane Marshall, 20, and 18-year-old Londasha Chaney, all of Sacramento, were taken into custody after shoppers spotted a burglary at the Home Depot.

Witnesses told deputies they saw two people run out of the Home Depot around 9 a.m. with a cart full of power tools before stowing them in a Silver Chrysler 300 waiting in the parking lot.

A gray plastic bag was hanging off the trunk, obscuring the getaway vehicle’s license plate, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The car took off with the pilfered power tools, headed onto Highway 49 near Palm Avenue when a patrol deputy spotted them.

More deputies responded and the vehicle was pulled over on Interstate 80 near central Auburn. The driver and two passengers were arrested.

Chaney, allegedly the getaway driver, told deputies that she “does this for a living,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

More than $3,000 worth of power tools were seized from the car and returned to the Home Depot.

Chaney, Geiger and Marshall were all charged with burglary, grand theft and conspiracy, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
