Suspect apprehended after car chase leads police from Citrus Heights into Gold River

Police were engaged in a car chase Thursday afternoon across Sacramento County that ended when the suspect crashed the car in Gold River and was eventually detained by Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies after a brief standoff.

The chase started in Citrus Heights, according to police scanner traffic.

Caltrans said on Twitter that the suspect headed toward Folsom, but got on westbound Highway 50, eventually crashing near Gold Country Boulevard and Yuba Canal Drive.

KCRA live helicopter footage showed officers shoot the suspect with a non-lethal weapon and detail him at 4:30 p.m.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding confirmed that the man had been apprehended on suspicion of felony evasion, but did not provide further details.
