Police are looking for tips after an Oroville man was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound after a wedding celebration was targeted by a drive-by shooting near Sixth and Pomona Avenue.

Two minors were arrested Sunday and a third turned himself into police after a 16-year-old girl was killed in a Saturday night shooting near a West Sacramento high school.

In a news release, the West Sacramento Police Department said two minors were taken into custody in Sacramento and Elk Grove on Sunday and a gun believed to be used in the shooting has been seized.

Police said the shooting may have occurred during a drug deal involving marijuana.

A third suspect was sought by police before he turned himself into authorities on Sunday evening, West Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Eric Angle said in an email.

In the release, Angle said dispatchers received reports of several gunshots fired near the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail south of Linden Road at 7:36 p.m. Saturday. The area is near River City High School.

Responding officers found a teenage girl with at least one gunshot wound, Angle said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

In a statement, the Washington Unified School District, to which River City High School belongs, said “it does not appear that any of the individuals involved in this incident were WUSD students” and “this tragic incident is not connected to our schools.”
