Woman, 68, suffers fatal injuries from Highway 49 crash in Auburn
A 68-year-old woman died Friday morning after she was involved in a two car crash on Highway 49, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 8:55 a.m. Friday morning north of Joeger Road as the woman, driving a 2000 Honda Accord, turned left onto the highway from a private road, according to the release.
Meanwhile, a woman driving a 2017 KIA Sportage was traveling northbound, when the Honda pulled out in front of her.
Despite swerving to the right, the Kia hit the driver’s side of the Honda, causing the Kia to flip and land on its roof in between the northbound and southbound lanes.
The Kia driver suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the Honda driver died at the hospital. Her identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, CHP said.
