Three arrested on mail theft, methamphetamine charges in Amador County

Three people were arrested Saturday after being seen stealing mail from mailboxes on Highway 88 in Amador County, according to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Duncan and Desiree Quick of Pittsburg, along with Keith Steinmetz of Antioch were seen in a white pickup truck parked next to a series of mailboxes near Sutter Creek Ranchos Road, according to the release.

A patrolling deputy noticed the truck and approached them, aware of a string of reported mail thefts in the county.

Steinmetz, who was a passenger, admitted to stealing the mail and all three were arrested. They were charged with multiple crimes including possession of burglary tools, methamphetamine possession, false identification and mail theft.
