Homeless person cuts Roseville McDonald’s employee with butter knife, police say

An employee at a McDonald’s restaurant in Roseville was cut by a butter knife during a confrontation with a homeless person in the parking lot Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at the McDonald’s restaurant in the 1100 block of Cirby Way at Sunrise Avenue around 7:50 a.m.

The employee engaged in an altercation with an apparent transient near the drive-thru outside the business shortly before 8 a.m. when the man stabbed him, Roseville Police Department spokesman Rob Baquera said in an emailed statement.

“The altercation was between a store employee and a transient outside of the business,” Baquera’s statement said. “During the altercation the transient pulled out a butter knife and caused superficial wounds to the employee.”

The suspect was detained and taken into custody on several charges, Baquera said. The victim sustained injuries considered superficial and not life-threatening, according to Baquera.
