Woman found dead near Highway 160 and American River Parkway in Sacramento

A woman was found dead along the bike trail near the American River Parkway early Monday morning, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Spokesman Officer Karl Chan said officers responded at about 2:10 a.m. for a death investigation after a body was found in the vicinity of Highway 160.

Chan said detectives and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office have responded to the scene, and it is still being investigated whether foul play was a factor.

The Police Department had responded around 3 p.m. Sunday to a male body found in the same general area, near the American River Parkway and Highway 160, which authorities and family say is believed on a preliminary basis to be that of Alex Holden, a 25-year-old man missing from Sacramento since Dec. 31.

Chan said Monday morning there was no evidence to suggest the two deaths were linked, and that foul play was not suspected in the death of the male.

No other details were immediately available.
