Three Sacramento men arrested in Butte County in connection to pot robbery, deputies say

Three Sacramento men were arrested in Butte County after robbing two people of marijuana at gunpoint, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.

The robbery occurred Monday night in the 100 block of Happy Hollow Lane in Forbestown when the men showed up intending to buy marijuana, according to a news release. However, one of the men flashed a gun and large amounts of marijuana was stolen.

The victims reported the theft to the sheriff’s deputies, who pulled over the suspects’ car near the Gold Country Casino after a short chase. Nearly 75 pounds of marijuana was found along with over $50,000 in cash and the men were arrested, authorities said.

The driver, Kevin Mendez, 20, along with passengers Apolinar Arias, 30, and Rishabh Kunwar, 21 were charged with robbery, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy, according to the release. Mendez also faces a felony evasion charge while Kunwar was also charged with a parole violation.
