Two men convicted in connection with gang-related assault, shooting, Sacramento DA says
Two men were convicted on gang-related charges Wednesday in connection with a 2016 shooting.
In a news release, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said Justin Jorn, 33, was convicted of assault with a gun, robbery and felony firearm possession, while Terry Eales, 32, was convicted of robbery and assault.
The shooting occurred on May 18, 2016, when Jorn and Eales were attempting to coerce someone into paying the Norteno gang dues for making money in a gang-controlled neighborhood, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
When the person refused to pay up, Jorn assaulted the victim, rendering them unconscious while Eales stole their money and jewelry.
The victim was found in an alley two hours later and taken to a hospital. While receiving medical attention, Jorn drove by the victim’s house and shot at two people who were out in front. Nobody was injured in the shooting.
Jorn has a criminal record involving previous robbery charges, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He faces up to 46 years and four months in prison.
Eales faces up to 15 years in prison.
They are scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 21.
