Police have identified the armed man suspected of barricading himself in a Citrus Heights home Saturday and engaging in a standoff with officers for hours.

In a news release, the Citrus Heights Police Department said Daniel Makarov, 31, was arrested around 6 p.m. at a home on the 7200 block of La Luna Court.

Police were initially called to the residence at 9 a.m. on reports of an assault. Callers told officers that there had been a verbal altercation between neighbors during which a naked man attacked someone.

When police arrived, Makarov fled into his home. Officers found two guns outside the home and suspected he had more inside.

SWAT units arrived on scene and ordered Makarov to leave the home over a loudspeaker, although he refused.

Police used drones and sonic decoys during the standoff and were eventually able to take Makarov into custody.

He is currently being held at the Sacramento County jail on suspicion of battery, possessing an assault weapon and battery upon an officer, according to Sacramento County Sheriff’s records. His bail is set at $50,000.
