Rancho Cordova man dies of injuries suffered in 2013 parking lot fight, authorities say

A Rancho Cordova man died late last month, nearly seven years after a parking lot fight left him unconscious and seriously injured, authorities said.

Paul Brown died Jan. 26 from injuries suffered during the incident which occurred around 1 a.m. June 22, 2013, in the 10100 block of Coloma Road, according to the Sacramento County sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.

“The decedent was involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of a business,” Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding told The Sacramento Bee on Tuesday.

Brown, 67, required extensive medical treatment and died last week from complications of a head injury suffered during the altercation, which Deterding said escalated from a verbal dispute into a physical fight, based on detectives’ reports.

No arrests have been made in connection with the fight, Deterding said.
