South Lake Tahoe police say he beat up his wife twice, and escaped while in custody
Authorities have arrested an El Dorado County parolee who reportedly beat up his wife twice in one week and escaped while in police custody on Tuesday, when he ran away after receiving treatment for Taser injuries, South Lake Tahoe officials said.
Christopher Hendrickson, 25, of South Lake Tahoe was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, escaping from custody, corporal injury to his spouse, child endangerment, forcible entry into a property and felony vandalism, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department announced Tuesday afternoon in a news release.
On Jan. 28, the South Lake Tahoe police received a report of a domestic violence incident. Hendrickson’s wife told police her husband had punched her in the face during an argument, and that he had threatened to kill her.
Authorities later found Hendrickson and arrested him — without incident — on suspicion of making criminal threats and violating his parole.
Police officials said Hendrickson has a history of weapons charges, battery causing traumatic injury and threatening law enforcement. He was on parole in the state’s the Post Release Community Supervision program, commonly known as Proposition 47. He was being supervised by the El Dorado County Probation Department.
After his arrest last week, Hendrickson was arraigned in court and released from jail on his own recognizance, according to police.
On Monday, Hendrickson’s wife called police to report her husband had “battered” her again, police officials said in the news release. When officers tried to apprehend Hendrickson, he left the area and “was able to escape.”
Police continued to look for Hendrickson until about 9 a.m. Tuesday, when officers spotted him at the Lake Tahoe Inn in the 3500 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard.
When the officers approached Hendrickson, they said Hendrickson and another man left the motel room. The other man was later identified as Teofilo Uribe.
While trying to evade police, Hendrickson forced his way into the lobby of a nearby motel, the Beverly Lodge in the 3400 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard. Police officials said Hendrickson also forced his way into a home behind the motel, where the manager and his family were.
The officers able to take Hendrickson into custody; they used a Taser to subdue him.
Uribe, however, escaped police. Officials said Uribe, 32, has a history that includes charges of kidnapping, drugs, theft and weapons violations. Uribe has three warrants for his arrest that includes an allegation of being a felon in possession of a gun.
Hendrickson suffered minor injuries when police used the Taser during his arrest. The officers followed police protocol and took Hendrickson to a local hospital to receive medical treatment.
As Hendrickson was being walked back to a police patrol car from the hospital, Hendrickson escaped and ran away through a nearby neighborhood, officials said. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office helped police find Hendrickson and take him into custody again.
