19-year-old man dies in Davis shooting believed to be accidental, police said
A 19-year-old man died Thursday after a shooting in Davis, police said.
Police responded to the call at 3:34 p.m., said Deputy Chief Paul Doroshov of the Davis Police Department. At an apartment complex in the 2500 block of East 8th Street, officers found a 19-year-old man suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The man was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento where he later died of his injuries, Doroshov said.
At some point during the investigation, it was “alleged” that the shooting was accidental, he said. Officers have identified the person who is suspected of firing the weapon and that person is being cooperative with the investigation, Doroshov added.
No one is in custody, and police are “conducting a full investigation to determine what the cause of the shooting was,” he said.
