Sacrmento PD: Parole agent sees two fighting downtown, then one stabs the other

A parole agent spotted two people fighting Friday morning near the Harvest House Union Gospel Mission in downtown Sacramento before one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed the other, police officials said.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 9 a.m. near North B and Ahern streets about a block south of Loaves and Fishes, in a River District area frequented by homeless people. It was unclear whether either of the people involved in the stabbing were homeless; few details were released Friday afternoon.

One of the people fighting stabbed the other, said Officer Karl Chan, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman. The person stabbed was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, Chan said. He didn’t have any information about the person’s gender or age.

The person suspected of committing the stabbing was detained at the scene and was expected to be arrested, Chan said. He said information about the suspect, including the criminal charges, will be released after that person has been booked at Sacramento County jail.
