Police chase through Solano County ends with stolen truck flipping, CHP video shows

Four suspects were detained Friday night after a violent carjacking in Vallejo led to a police pursuit, ending with the stolen pickup truck overturning in Solano County, authorities said.

The Vallejo Police Department, Benicia Police Department and a helicopter with the California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate Division responded as the stolen vehicle fled from a Vallejo gas station onto Interstate 780, crossing the Benicia-Martinez Bridge before heading back into Vallejo, with Benicia police still pursuing.

Vallejo Police in a Facebook post said the carjacking victim was “attacked while at a gas station in the 200 block of Maine Street.”

“The victim was pepper sprayed, had a gun pointed at him, and his truck was stolen by 4 subjects,” the social media post continued.

Video taken from the CHP helicopter shows the stolen truck evading police on westbound I-780 for several minutes before exiting the freeway and heading onto Rollingwood Drive. The truck then skids out of control and flips over onto its roof, video shows.

The occupants crawl out of the pickup and are quickly surrounded by law enforcement; they surrender, lying face-down on the ground, and officers cuff them at gunpoint, CHP video shows.

The four suspects, who were not identified in the department’s Facebook post, were arrested, treated at hospitals for injuries sustained during the rollover crash and then booked, the Vallejo Police Department said.
