Brawl at Woodland Cemetery leads to cocaine arrest and discovery of gun, police say
Police responded to a large fight Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery, finding a handgun in the bushes and arresting one of the participants for possession of cocaine.
Officers with the gang task force responded to a “physical fight involving approximately 10 subjects” Wednesday night at the Cemetery, 800 West St., the Woodland Police Department said Thursday in a Facebook post.
Police stopped two vehicles attempting to leave the cemetery and arrested one suspect, 20-year-old Anthony Romero Valadez of Woodland, after a K-9 found cocaine in one of the vehicles, the post said.
Officers then searched the area where the vehicles had been stopped and found a handgun in the bushes nearby, but were not able to link any of the individuals to the gun, the Police Department said.
Investigation of the incident, including the firearm that was discovered, remains ongoing, the department said.
