Calaveras County man arrested after search warrant uncovers 440 pounds of marijuana plants
A Calaveras County man was arrested after over 400 pounds of marijuana plants were discovered in a West Point grow house, according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
Zhong Li, 36, was served with a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of Bald Mountain Road on Thursday, according to the release. Adjacent to the residence was a large shop building, which was found to have 1,460 marijuana plants, weighing 440 pounds.
Liquid waste disposal and changes to the electrical systems and building structure caused the building to be red-tagged by code enforcement officials.
Li was arrested and faces five felony charges including suspicion of illegal marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale and maintaining a drug house. He is being held in Calaveras County Jail in San Andreas on $100,000 bail.
