Man on DUI probation arrested after crashing in Winters, killing passenger, police say
A man on probation for DUI offenses was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a crash in Winters that left one dead, police said.
In a news release, the Winters Police Department said Joshua Muller, 30, of Arbuckle was taken into custody after crashing an SUV on Railroad Avenue north of Niemann Street.
Sarah Muller, 39, also of Arbuckle, was riding in the front passenger seat and suffered fatal injuries. Medical personnel declared her dead at the scene of the crash.
Police arrived around 9:30 p.m. and observed signs of intoxication in Joshua Muller. He was taken to a Kaiser hospital in Vacaville, where a screening test determined his blood alcohol content to be .14 percent, nearly twice the legal limit.
Joshua Muller had previously been convicted on a DUI charge and was on probation for that offense, according to police.
After receiving treatment at the hospital, Joshua Muller was booked into the Yolo County jail on suspicion of drunk driving and felony murder.
