‘Barricaded subject’ surrenders to Placer deputies in Auburn, sheriff’s officials say
A wanted parolee from Stanislaus County surrendered to Placer County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday evening after he was “barricaded” for a few hours in an Auburn home near Interstate 80.
Kelly Callahan, who has been a wanted parolee since November, peacefully surrendered to negotiators, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced about 6 p.m. Wednesday. Sheriff’s officials said Callahan, 58, has a history of violence with multiple felony convictions.
Deputies were at the scene of the incident about 3:30 p.m., which was described as a “barricaded subject” near Dolores Drive and Terry Lane. Authorities closed roads leading to the Auburn neighborhood as deputies tried to get Callahan to come out.
The California Highway Patrol stopped traffic from entering Dolores Drive from a Bowman Road, which is just north of Interstate 80.
