Convicted serial robber could get 206 years in prison, Sacramento County DA says
A man was convicted Friday of three counts of robbery and three counts of attempted robbery, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
In a news release, the District Attorney’s Office said Stefawn Taylor, 32, was found guilty of first degree residential robbery, two counts of second degree robbery and three counts of attempted robbery.
The first robbery took place on June 19, 2019, when Taylor pushed an 84-year-old woman to the ground as she was walking home. While the woman was incapacitated, Taylor stole her purse and ran away.
Then, on August 8, 2019, Taylor was found by a resident in their home with several valuables. The resident, who had just come home from work, told Taylor to leave and tried to force him out.
Taylor responded by pulling out a knife and threatened to kill the resident, who then allowed Taylor to leave with the stolen property.
Just a few days later, on August 13, 2019, four minors were out walking in the street when they met Taylor. He talked with them casually for a while before brandishing a knife and demanding their valuables. One of the minors handed over a backpack, prompting Taylor to leave.
A witness who saw the robbery called police, who arrived and arrested Taylor.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office records indicate that Taylor gave arresting officers false identification and was initially booked under a false name.
Taylor was previously convicted of robbery in 2014 and again in 2015, rendering him subject to California’s three-strikes law.
Taylor faces up to 206 years to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 10, 2020.
He’s being held at the Sacramento County jail.
