Folsom man arrested after police say he posed as boy, demanded 12-year-old’s pics
A Folsom man was arrested on Thursday and charged with several counts of solicitation of sex from a child online, according to the Folsom Police Department.
Matthew Goyder, 36, posed as a 14-year-old boy and contacted a 12-year-old girl from Florida online in November 2019, according to the release. Over the next month, Goyder began to threaten to girl and demand she make illicit videos and pictures to send to him.
The girl reported the conversations to her parents, who called the police and Internet Crimes Against Children to start an investigation.
A search warrant was served at Goyder’s home and workplace on March 5 where several electronic devices were seized and he was arrested. He is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jain without bail on charges of communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense and contacting a minor with intent to commit certain sexual offenses.
Detectives believe it is “highly unlikely” that there is only one victim, and believe that there are more victims who have been contacted by Goyder. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Rowberry with the Folsom Police Department.
