Federal prosecutor, wife dead in suspected murder-suicide in Granite Bay, sheriff says
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says a homicide reported Sunday in Granite Bay is being investigated as a murder-suicide, identifying the deceased as a federal prosecutor and his wife.
The Sheriff’s Office in a social media post Monday morning said the incident, described in previous posts Sunday afternoon only as a homicide investigation taking place on Wesbourne Way in Granite Bay, is now being investigated as an apparent “murder/suicide.”
The two decedents were identified in a tweet as 43-year-old Timothy Delgado and his wife, 45-year-old Tamara Delgado, both of Granite Bay.
“We believe that Mr. Delgado fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself,” sheriff’s officials tweeted.
Deputies further identified Timothy Delgado as a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, which is based in Sacramento.
“The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California was notified on Sunday, March 8, 2020, of the death of Assistant United States Attorney Timothy Delgado and his wife,” Deb Duckett-Morris, a spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott, wrote in response to an email seeking comment. “We were informed that Mr. Delgado and his wife were found deceased in their home. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating with the assistance of FBI, and we are fully cooperating with the investigation.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office deferred further questions regarding the case to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
