Woman struck and killed while pushing motorcycle along rural Northern California roadway

A 19-year-old Loma Rica woman died Saturday when she was struck by a vehicle while pushing her motorcycle along a rural road northeast of Marysville, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred about 7:50 p.m. on Loma Rica Road north of Highway 20. Officers said the victim was pushing a 2005 Honda motorcycle south when she was hit by a 2011 Chrysler, which was also traveling south on Loma Rica Road at about 65 mph.

Alcohol and drugs were not considered contributing factors in the collision, but officers determined the driver of the Chrysler, a 20-year-old Loma Rica man, was traveling at an unsafe speed and did not see the victim.

The man was not arrested, according to the CHP. The victim’s identity has not been released.
