Man arrested in suspected gang shooting in Woodland, police say
One man is in custody after shots were fired at a Woodland apartment complex in what Woodland police called a gang-related shooting in a social media post.
At 9:10 p.m. Sunday, multiple 911 callers reported hearing gunshots and police responded to the Sycamore Pointe Apartments, where they saw three men running.
Police later found one of the men at a Taco Bell who matched the description given by witnesses, police said. Officers “recognized” the man as 19-year-old Levi Duffy, a Woodland resident, according to the post.
Duffy allegedly fled from officers across Pioneer Avenue and police set up a perimeter to search for him. Air support was provided by CHP and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office helicopters.
Duffy was found in a field north of Pioneer Storage Facility and taken into custody. A K9 performed an extensive search of the area but did not locate a firearm that Duffy had allegedly used.
A victim in the crime was located but police said he was not cooperative with the investigation. No injuries were reported.
Duffy was booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, delaying an officer, and a gang enhancement, police said.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Woodland Police Department’s tip line at 530-661-7850.
