Two girls, 13 and 14, arrested in Stockton after vehicle pursuit in stolen car, police said

Two teenage girls are in custody after leading Stockton Police on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen vehicle Thursday night, police said.

The pursuit began when police tried to make a traffic stop at 10:04 p.m. in the area of Alpine Avenue and Alvarado Avenue in the Valley Oak District, the department said.

The driver failed to stop and led officers on a low-speed pursuit. A helicopter was called in and guided officers to the vehicle’s location, said Officer Joe Silva, spokesman for the department.

An officer then used a “pit maneuver,” which is when a patrol car rams a suspect vehicle during a pursuit to force it to stop, Silva said.. The two suspects, a 14-year-old and 13-year-old girl, were taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and evading a peace officer, the department said.

The 13-year-old girl was also arrested on a warrant.
